Kyle Bobby Dunn - ...A Young Persons Guide To - EXCLUSIVE!

Kyle Bobby Dunn - ...A Young Persons Guide To - EXCLUSIVE!

Regular visitors to this blog will know that every now and again I come across a piece of music that inspires me so much that I write to the artist asking for permission to share some of their music with you as a download in the hope that you will enjoy it as much as I do. This is one of those times.
Kyle gave me permission to share a couple of MP3's with you from this release. I hope you like them. With much gratitude to Kyle:

Kyle Bobby Dunn's new release 'A Young Person's Guide To...' is quite simply a master piece of drone. Since his last release 'Fervency' Kyle's music has matured into what has to be considered some of the very best music in this genre. With over 2 hours of music including many tracks over 11 minutes in length you are guaranteed to be in for a long and beautiful journey.

There will be inevitable similarities made with the music of Stars Of The Lid but where SoTL has a grandiose, orchestral sometimes cinematic feel Kyle's music has a softer, warmer , more mature feel. Kyle has somehow managed to blend the soft ambient elements of Brian Eno's music with the swirling minimal orchestral movements found in Masterpieces such as Stars Of The Lid's '...And Their Refinement Of The Decline' and Album of the Year, Eluvium's 'Copia' into what is a rare album of ambient/drone perfection that deserves to be an award winning album for 2010.

I can't recommend this album enough, it deserves a 5/5 star rating. As a long time follower and admirer of drone music I can confidently say this will take pride of place in the collection of any fans of ambient drone.

I should also add that the CD is available at a very reasonable price (and to my delight a very quick shipping time!)

Natural Snow Buildings - The Centauri Agent 2010 !!

The first Natural Snow Buildings album of 2010 is being giving away for free!!! through the wonderful Vulpiano Records Stunning Music!
From the Site:

VULP-0013 is Natural Snow Buildings’ first release of 2010, the free-for-download double LP The Centauri Agent! On part one, the 41 minute “Our man from Centauri” sets the stage, a cosmic, sprawling opener with themes that continue on into “The accidental remote viewer”, before fizzling out into static. Part two is comprised of nine beautiful and intense tracks (particular stand-outs including “The Psychic Circle/Uchronia”, “The storm of resurrection”, and “Solar flares”). Lovely and intricately woven as ever, while frequently heading off into new and challenging sonic territory, Mehdi and Solange have created yet another very special work of musical art with The Centauri Agent!

Sigur rós Tagging of FLAC & MP3

Following much discussion with those who know more than me about this sort of thing! The future & following Sigur rós concerts will all be re-tagged as follows

The tagging will follow the structure indicated in the example below:

FLAC - File Titles = sigurros_20060221_stlouis_01_glosoli
MP3 - File Titles = As Above BUT the tagging will be:
- Name of Song = Glósóli
- Name of Concert = 2006.02.21 St Louis
- (The track numbers will be hidden from the title but tagged)

This has come about to bring into line my masters with a unified taper standered system and a qualified MP3 standered tagging.
All my efforts to date have been to master as many of these wonderful concerts as possible. Because there has been over 10 years worth I have had to work as efficiently as possible to complete this project whilst I have the opportunity. Now I aim to correct any Masters than can be improved further and to focus on a more over-all 'qualified' product for you

Sigur ros - The Pageant, St. Louis 21.02.2006 - Re Master 2010 V2

I was asked to re-upload this as the links had died but ended up doing quite a bit of work to improve the sound quality. Upon re-listening it seemed clear there was far too much high end in general which has been balanced out although this is not an easy concert to work with effectively due to the acoustics of the room and the inherent difficulties with audience recording (not to say I am not extremely grateful to the taper as are the people who attended)
Good quality and energy. The bass is punchy and warm, the voice is strong, well rounded and sits very well in the mix. Other elements of the sound are really nice as well, clear and balanced.
Thanks to Danny for the taping and sharing.

Set List:

01 Takk / Glósóli
02 Ný Batterí
