Not a very good quality video, most of the time you only see half of the stage above the heads of the audience and the camera is a little bit wobbly - so why post it? because despite the quality I couldnt help myself watching the whole show. As per usual, with Sigur ros, I found myself absorbed into the experience and the music and ended up really enjoying it. Perhaps this is more for fans but its worth it to able to get a taste of the band from 2003

Another great oldie featuring Steindor Andersen. I wish I had been to this concert. Having lived in Brighton for a while I cant think of a more perfect location. From the taper:
Without doubt, this is the best gig I have ever seen. The venue - a still-consecrated Georgian church in a residential area in Brighton, not far from the seafront - was somehow perfect. We were first in, but sat in the third row for fear of the mics being spotted. The band were set up in the altar area. There was some light amplification, but not much due to the church's location and the fact that I reckon the band wanted the place's natural acoustics to be to the fore.
It was light - just - when the band came on. There was very little extra lighting to my recollection, but it didn't matter peering into the gloom as dusk came. As you'll be able to hear, the audience were respectfully silent for the most part apart from applause. It was the most incredible atmosphere you could imagine. A couple of hours later, after a sublime set, we left reeling towards the doors. People were in tears. I'm still not sure how we got home that night. Thanks to Alyssa for track corrections

What the label says:
Message to Bears is the alias of Oxford based ambient folker Jerome Alexander. EP1 was originally self released by Jerome back in 2007, but it quickly sold out as it's popularity spread. After appearing on the very first Dead Pilot release, I knew I wanted to work with Jerome further, so a re-release of EP1 was the perfect option to go for. Describing Jeromes music as ambient folk is only scratching the surface as so many influences can be heard in every aspect of his music. The only way I feel I can get close to giving you any idea of the sound of Message to Bears is to ask you to imagine Explosions in the Sky on acoustic guitars being led by Max Richter, playing your favourite song, on a hill top under the shadow of a tree, on a perfect summer evening. It's uplifting, nostalgic, hopefull, calm and it lives in you.

I'm delighted to be able to offer this wonderful album for download by kind permission of the artist. I have to say this is the best album I have heard this year. Not an easy thing to say but I hope you will download this music and try for yourself. So why is this album so good? Imagine a mix of Eluvium, Goldmund, Jasper TX, a touch of Max Richter and add Olafur Arnalds in love, and you should get an idea of the majestic, delicate, joyful excellence that is - Songs By The Tumbled Sea. As soon as I heard the first 3 songs on this album I immediatly e-mailed the artist asking where I could find a CD to buy. As it turns out Sam is not selling this album but has done it just for the love of music and has been giving just a few handmade copies to friends. However, through his kindess, here it is! I was a little bit dubious about posting this one because of the sound, which -to my taste- was very bass heavy but then I reduced the bass and increased the treble on the Equalizer on my MP3 player and WOW ! what a concert. Brilliant quality and best of all a stunning 18 minute long Death Song.

This concert comes highly recommended. The sound quality is excellent but be warned there is a very bizarre radio jingle at the beginning which if you're not expecting can be a bit frightening! This is such a great concert in many ways. Being an early one, there are parts where you hear some fragility in the singing and playing which comes across as very endearing, especially when at other parts you hear the potential power behind some of these songs starting to be released.
There is a very early version of I Gaer here which is in many ways different from the Hvarf version. There is also an stunning 12 minute Bium Bium Bambalo * which is very rare live. Just before the last song, Popplagio, Jonsi announces he feels like Tom Jones !? A must have concert for fans. Enjoy

A great concert containing an epic collection of songs including: a haunting rendition of Milano, Salka, Gong and Smaskifa. Ive been reading a few concert reviews lately and would like to include the following because it mirrors a temperament which is repeated time and time again:
- (the experience of Sigur ros I mean, not the audience noise!!) -
' this was my first sigur rós concert, as they have long been one of my favorite bands. i had no idea what was in store for me. this has been the most incredible concert experience of my life. the only thing that bothered me was the persistent redneck yelling from the balcony. but it didn't seem to phase the band. i've never seen a more passionate band onstage. when jónsi sang the high-pitched chorus in "track 1", tears came from my eyes. and track 8...words can not explain. this was a religious experience, to say the very least. god bless sigur rós '

There are already 4 superb quality re-mastered DVD tracks from this show posted earlier but for the sake of completeness, here is the complete concert. Unfortunately its not the same source as the DVD so the tracks aren't as good. Its a big improvement from the original but I think - due to sheer number of difficulties with aspects of the sound itself I had when trying to re-master this - this must of been quite a difficult show to record in the first place due to the acoustics of the room. Anyway, dont let this put you off too much it really is a fantastic show and certainly worth downloading

Ive been really enjoying and appreciating some of the 2001, 2002 shows. For me, there is a real slow majestic prescience in the music which is lost somewhat now we have moved on to happier musical times. I love them both but . . . still.
Some concerts lend themselves particularly well to being re-mastered. This one is no exception. Its a great one as it contains some songs from the Rimur EP and is one of the earliest good quality recordings i have been able to find.

Curt from 'The Sea Shall Not Have Them' has very kindly allowed me to post their debut EP here on Victoryrosemusic for free download. It really is an exceptional debut. You can hear many influences mixed into what is an excellant post rock CD. Curt is writing a new album penned for sometime in 2009 which will be a mix of Eluvium style drone and post rock. Really Looking forward to it. Particularily like Track 6 - End Song. They are also doing a split ep with another artist from Brisbane called aheadphonehome

Instrumental music is sometimes met with resistance by music-loving punters, but local Brissie/Gold Coast act, ‘The Sea Shall Not Have Them’ are turning heads and swaying opinions with their lush, cinematic and yet at times totally rock-n-roll soundscapes. Toted by local street press as the ‘outfit to watch’, we are proud to feature the primarily instrumental act ‘The Sea Shall Not Have Them’ as our feature artists this week. The duo’s debut EP ‘Traces’ is distributed by Musicadium, and we are highly impressed with this journey into their beautiful, sound-driven world.

In the scorching heat of Summer we banned this four songs on tape. While the debut was recorded wearing woolly hat and scarf, this time the band was lost in sweat and fatigue. I.M. Wagner is less intimate than Bars Closing Down, but there's a trace of frantic power in the new songs that'll be new to you if you've never seen Milhaven live on stage. Check the noise-eruptions in half-improvised Lord Of Birds or the all-consuming end of Oh! Great Pacific. Still, there are expanded moments of gentle guitar-play you can find a lot of beauty in; the initial parts of Clean Room and the final acoustic-track Firnis maybe just the most obvious examples. Milhaven refined their songwriting both at the quiet and the loud parts and managed to record a dignified successor to the highly acclaimed debut LP.

French Teen Idol is a solo project out of Rome, Italy from Andrea Di Carlo. His music is strongly in the post-rock camp with influences from bands such as Mogwai, and God is an Astronaut. There is a strange and beautiful synthesis going on that melds together bits of rock, electronic, and ambient. Sometimes calming, sometimes disquieting, Teen French Idol makes for some very interesting listening. Two albums are currently available as free downloads. The first album is self-titled and available from the Nishi netlabel. The first track sets the formula; keyboards and string-like electronic in a repeating melody adding keyboard and string-like electronics in an emotional crescendo. It is a simple formula that works well in Di Carlo’s hands. “Your Fault” is an especially good example of the enjoyable tension Teen French Idol is capable of. The sophomore album Enlightened False Consciousness is released by Lost Children. The orchestral patterns with building tension continues but the atmosphere leans toward moody and slightly dark. This album is even more dream inducing. The title track and “The Longest Night” are two of the best tracks.

I decided to post this because of its rarity for one thing but mainly because its such a treat to watch two talented musicians with just a guitar and voice performing what has become timeless songs. No released material here. In fact, there is apparently no released Simon & Garfunkel on video from the sixties at all and no live in studio Simon and Garfunkel as audio releases either.

16 mm. black & white Film > U-Matic video tape > VHS > Final Cut Pro (with Pro Tools audio improvements) > DVD Studio Pro > VIDEO_TS file set.
There was quite a bit of dust on the film when transferred and it shows some during playback. However, it is still very good to excellent black and white video. It's got monophonic TV audio - not spectacular sounding but quite listenable. I have never seen this material circulated before now.

Last night Victoryrosemusic passed the 10,000 hits mark. This is wonderful and a bit of a payback for myself and all the hard work that has gone into re-mastering most of these concerts, (some of which have taken a whole day) I love the music of Sigur ros and feel privileged to be able to improve -hopefully!- and share with you, some well known and lesser well known works of Sigur ros. Thanks have to go the Sigur ros themselves for giving permission for us to share this live work, as well as all the other artists on this blog who have allowed their music to appear here. Thanks also to everyone who has shared, uploaded, and let me download much of the music that appears here. Everything here appears through the kindness of others ! Thanks and enjoy

A fairly good quality but low bit rate of 160. Its a little quiet but still worth a download. Its funny listening to Jonsi at the end of Staralfur trying to explain something about trying to count the difficult beats of Heysatan but being put of by the squeeking of the haromonioum. At least I think thats what he was saying??! Enjoy

Excellent quality, well balanced concert. The guitar work on Viðrar Vel Til Loftárása is exceptional, indeed the whole song comes across as very heartfelt. Festival is also quite slow, delicate and heartfelt. A lovely show. Enjoy

Stunning quality on this short but worthwhile download. There are three acoustic songs followed by an interview with the director of Heima, Dean de Blois. You may notice the occasional tiny glitch which is due to my removing the 'chicken like texan style whoops' of the redneck who seems to have gone to many Sigur ros concerts over the years for the specific purpose of spoiling any quiet moments ! Top quality but low 192 bitrate concert from St. Petersburg. This concert also includes many photographs from the night. the audience sounds very excited when they get covered with all the confetti during Gobbledegook. Great concert. Obvious everyone really enjoyed it. Its great to hear the audience clapping slowly along to a relaxed Popplagio ! Never heard that before. I love the guitar work on Popplagio, really nice angry drone as the drums start.
