Great Lake Swimmers - Live - 13.06.2008 / In Session - 16.08.2004

Great Lake Swimmers - Live - Reverb, Toronto - 13.06.2008
In Session - Studio 211 - 16.08.2004

From website "Fifty-five years ago, Marilyn Bell took a plunge and traversed Lake Ontario. Back then, being a Great Lake swimmer was a big deal; now, it's an astonishing physical feat taken for granted. It's a rapidly forgotten part of history, like a faded map or a tattered photograph. Or a lost channel. Tony Dekker's Great Lake Swimmers have spent the past seven years performing on stages around the world—though, like Bell, they should never be taken for granted. LOST CHANNELS, their fourth album set for release on March 31st, finds them once again recording at historic locations. This time in the Thousand Islands region of Ontario and New York state, telling tales of hidden histories, still "mining for light in the dark wells," still "tuned to an instrument of greater and unknown design." The instrument in question is the singular voice of Tony Dekker, a voice that summons ghosts from times past. It’s a voice that is capable of conveying heartache and comfort all in the space of a single phrase."

Do Make Say Think - In Session Studio 211 Toronto 25.04.2007

If you haven't heard DMST before then you are in for a treat. They are such a great band with a real diversity and professionalism evident through out their music. There are aspects of jazz, post rock, and physcadelia found in their music some of which reminds me of a cross between Pink Floyd and Cinematic Orchestra. Enjoy

The Tumbled Sea - NEW SONG / VIDEO

The Tumbled Sea - NEW SONG / VIDEO

I am thrilled to be able to offer a new song from -hopefully the new album -of 'The Tumbled Sea.' You may remember Sam's first album [link] which was for me one of the highlights of 2008 and received my personal album of year post. The track itself is a beautiful song which really warms the heart. I absolutely love it, no surprise there !
Also included is a short video which Sam scored the music for. The video was made by his friends Alex Caplow and Jeannie Yoon and filmed by Albert Yu for an end of term film class. It features some music not released by Sam. Enjoy this sublime music

Kjartan Sveinsson - Síðasti bærinn (un-released)

Kjartan Sveinsson - Síðasti bærinn (un-released)

Kjartan Sveinsson, the keyboard player from Sigur Ros scored this beautiful music for the short Icelandic film entitled 'Síðasti bærinn' or 'The Farm' back in 2005. It was nominated for an Academy Award. As its just been anounced that Kjarten will be scoring music for the new film Ondine I thought it would be timely to offer this.

This one is special. During the re-mastering of these concerts there are often hidden delights that reveal themselves. This one in particular is one of those. The audio in general is fabulous, very clear crisp and well balanced but its the drums that make this one really stand out. They are huge! sometimes frighteningly so. A great one to play loud. Enjoy
NB: the first track was missed due to the taper experiencing equipment problems, which also runs slightly into the second track.

I'm really happy to post this as it is the only Sigur Ros concert I have actually had the good fortune to see. There are a couple of other sources out there of this concert but the sound is pretty poor. I had recorded this show but I had lost the original recording and the master CD back up files I had made have been missing until very recently. I found this quite by accident whilst trying to improve the soundtrack of the DVD of this show! So look out for a much improved post of the video of this concert soon.
The concert itself was the second of their Takk Tour and was breathtaking both visually and aurally. The sound of this particular recording is very good if perhaps a little flat and hissy in quieter parts.
There are a few small glitches on this such as when Kjartan speaks just before the Oncore song. -Yes Kjarten speaks ! These will be corrected on the FLAC version which be available in the near future
