The Middle East - KCRW-SXSW Festival 17.03.2010

One of the few bands that I have bought an actual CD rather just flac. Spellbinding stuff. Worldwide tour - check the link below :)

5 songs from The Middle East live at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. Beautiful music + a very rare live performance. These guys are touring now. Check the website & the myspace page for the 2 songs that totally sold me to this band!

~News coming soon with regard to the 10 Anniversary Agaetis Byrjun

" yep the SR hiatus isn't indefinite, it's temporary. they start rehearsing new songs next month as far as i know. not sure what journalist first invented this "indefinite" label, makes it sound like it's gonna last forever."
bjossi - Jónsi/Sigur rós - Managment team

& from Jónsi himself
" Im going to tour for the rest of the year and in between touring I'm going to try to meet the guys from Sigur rós and we are going to record some more songs and a new album in 2011"
1Live interview - 01.04.2010

Jónsi - Roseland Theatre, Portland 13.04.2010

Jónsi - Roseland Theatre, Portland 13.04.2010

So here at last, the first full length concert from Jónsi. The quality is good with just a little clipping at some of the louder parts. Each track was recorded separately so a little mixing has made this into a full concert but with some fade outs where necessary to keep the continuity and flow of the concert. I should add that the mastering is always done as 'flat' as possible to leave you with as much room as possible to use your own personal favourite EQ settings.
Huge thanks to DC Media for recording this and making it available. A lot of work has gone into this. Enjoy :)

Jónsi - 2010-04-17 San Francisco, Amoeba Music - Mastered

Jónsi - 2010-04-17 San Francisco, Amoeba Music - Re-Mastered

Lineage: Sonic Studio mics -> Edirol R-09HR (24 bit / 96 kHz) -> Nero (level boost & downsample to 16 bit / 44.1 kHz) -> cd wav -> flac level 8 > MASTER > Flac

The first recorded Jónsi public appearance! The appearance at the 'Amoeba Music Store' coincided with 'record store day' To the delight of fans there was an opportunity to meet Jónsi and the band afterwards for a record signing session. There is some hiss in quieter moments (which became apparent during the mastering process) However its my hope that a good balance has been achieved between the improvement in the overall sound and the original.
The original 'Un Mastered' version is available here @Dimeadozen [LINK]
Im posting this Master just in FLAC for now. LINKS BELOW
Heartfelt thanks & gratitude to 'tomzero' for both recording the show and permission to both allow me to master and share this with you
NB: You want to hold off on downloading as we have another version which combined with this show should be even better :)

04 Go Do
05 Sinking Friendships

Lusine - Triple Door 18.04.2008

I don't anything about this guy other than he opened for Stars of the Lid and makes similar music but with some nice electronica mixed in. Really really nice stuff, very warm calm ambient, electronica. Highly recommended. Perfect quality.
edit: as I was posting something else I started listening to this and now I can't stop listening to it. This is some of the best ambient/electronica music I have heard in a longggggg time.

Ólafur Arnalds - The Star Live, Beijing 03.04.2010 - Audio + Video Full Concert

Finally we have a full concert of Ólafur Arnalds thanks to his kindly offering his last performance in China for free viewing. Although beset by technical problems, the Video and Audio is offered here complete (I think!) There is some slight clipping during louder parts but nothing to unduly worry about. The video offered here is the highest quality I could arrange, MP4. The audio I have Mastered to bring out the best. Bear in mind the source is from a webcast recording but I think you will be very happy with the quality.

Jónsi - 1Live Première Concert Performance - 01.04.2010
NB: Apologies, the date has been corrected

First posting of a full concert, and what a great concert! This was the first public performance by Jónsi and his new band. I was a little dubious at first at how well this would turn out but the mastering went very well. Quite a raw, unfocused performance but not in a bad way (they had only been practising for 3 weeks at this point) New Piano Song is definatly the highlight for me - Just wonderful.
Enjoy. Jon x

Anomie Belle - KEXP Radio Session 16.08.2009

My friend RRCM kindly pointed me in the direction of this little treasure so I had a listen and as a consequence Im now enjoying the album as well. Fantastic stuff. Her début album 'Sleeping Patterns' is just brilliant. To quote someone:
"Anomie Belle is the moniker of Portland composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Toby Campbell. Performing here with her band, she blends old-school trip-hop beats, live violin and socially conscious lyrics into a potent but chilled concoction well suited to late-night listening"

Jónsi - Unreleased Songs

Just to let you know at some point in the future I have been considering a project of sorts - to mix all the non-album tracks (from the various radio sessions & hopefully, upcoming concerts) as best I can into a complete 'CD' There has been a lot of comments about some really good songs not making it onto the final cut of 'Go' so I will try to mix/master the songs (as much as possible), into a consistently sounding, smooth flowing companion to 'Go' at a later date

Helios + Goldmund - Unreleased Music - WORLD EXCLUSIVE!

You may remember Keith Kindly let me post some unreleased tracks a while back from his personal Un-Mastered MP3 collection. [LINK] Im happy to announce he has released a new album of new previously Un-Heard Music from 2000-2009 called 'Unleft' I've heard some snippets & it sounds just beautiful. You can listen & order it from here:
(Do check out the album Keith allowed me to post. It took me a long time and lot of thought to mix it and it still stands as a very special and unique example of the many talents of Keith Kenniff. Included are tracks showcasing his guitar/electronica/ambient/ music skills as well as some un heard Goldmund Piano tracks)

Oh! Almost forgot - Ps check out this new video of Helios live:
I have it on good authority he will be releasing a 'Mastered' version of it! (hopefully!)

Sleepingdog - Southern Session + Video

Sleepingdog - Southern Session + Video

Sleepingdog is a new and the most exciting discovery for me in a while so...
My 1st post about this band is further down the page or [HERE] including all relevant links. Here we have some alternative versions of the album (best listened too after you hear the album) The songs here are acoustic songs played very naturally in their living room.
The video (I dont know if its from the same session as above) is a very natural acoustic session lasting just under 1 hour and is in .flv format. (any play back issues just leave a comment)
Enjoy :)

You can watch the whole video HERE

The Album Leaf - Deaf Institute, Manchester 22.03.2010

The Album Leaf - Deaf Institute, Manchester 22.03.2010

An amazing concert with over 90 minutes of music playing to a packed house. This was Jimmy's 1st time playing in Manchester and he clearly enjoyed it. A quartet of classical musicians came to help play some of the songs from the RNCM. I think Jimmy really appreciated them being there. It was lovely to watch him stop playing and just stare up at the girls playing their parts with a rapt and appreciative attention.
I was road testing some new mics at this concert. The sound is fabulous and Im very happy with them BUT because the venue was very small and the bass was ridiculously loud and 'present' (no offence, just my personal view!) there is some 'fuzzy' distortion in the background, present at the lower end but, all in all its a great concert.

Kjartan Sveinsson & Olof Arnalds + poets R. Currie and Penelope Thomas

Only some brief music but interesting none the less. Composed in honor of Roni Horn by poet Anne Carson, this performance of sung and spoken word features a mix of voice and harmonium. Icelandic musicians Olof Arnalds and Kjartan Sveinsson of Sigur Ros, join Carson and poets R. Currie and Penelope Thomas for this special program.

Im not 100% sure who John Somers is although I think I will be kicking myself soon as the name is very familier! Anyway if you enjoyed 'Jónsi & Alex - Riceboy Sleeps' and 'Parachutes' then you will love this dreamy ambient pop music. Lovely summer evening music. Their 1st album is out any day now. Details below on their my space page
NB: Just found out - John Somers is the Brother of Alex Somers whose song 'A Candy Coated Slow Down' was featured on Jónsi & Alex's 'Rain Down My Favourite Songs' compilation CD!

Sleepingdog - 2009.04.05 [F]luister Festival - Audio + Video

A new discovery! Sleepingdog is the recording alias of Belgian songwriter and vocalist Chantal Acda, who teams up with Adam Wiltzie of Stars Of The Lid and Dead Texan fame. A bit like Heather Woods Broderick playing with Stars of the Lid. I love this music!. Superb quality sound. They have a new album out called 'Polar Life' I love it to bits, hauntingly beautiful.
